Tim’s Prayer

Every Wednesday morning, my pastor and I meet at Chick-Fil-A at Wolfchase, where we’re always warmly welcomed by our friend Tim, along with all of the other awesome employees. Some of Tim’s responsibilities are keeping the dining area clean and neat, and stocking the condiment stand. For the year and a half that I’ve known him, week by week, Tim is always smiling and always has something positive to talk about. He is a proud husband, loving father, and devout Christian. One day, I asked Tim what I could pray for him about. Without hesitation, he answered that he’d been praying lately for his personal work to be noticed, and for his dedicated efforts to bring glory to God. Before I even started praying for this, it struck a chord in my heart. A mixture of emotions washed around, including humility, gratitude, and inspiration. Out of all of these emotions the greatest was inspiration. Tim could be just like so many others we encounter every day at their work places: apathetic, unhappy, and appearing to have better stuff to do than have to deal with you. How about the service guy you have trustingly invited into your home, your family’s safe haven, who shows up and greets you with a bad attitude, high pressure sales tactics. The man who would obviously rather not have to go out of his way to meet your needs? Tim is grateful for his customers. Although we’ve become friends, he greets us each time as if we are family and always has. Tim takes pride in his work all because he wants to reflect God in all of his ways.
Tim Standing — Cordova, TN — Roto Clean
Take a second look at that condiment stand, take note that each straw, each package of ketchup, and each jelly packet and how they’re all stacked neatly on top of one another. This picture was taken about a half-hour after he had last worked on it, around 10 a.m. on a busy Wednesday morning, so normally it looks even better than this. Tim was kind enough to let me take his picture for my website. After telling the manager one day about how Tim had inspired me, she told me Tim will take pride in picking up a piece of ice off of the floor. She explained that literally everything he does is for the glory of God.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, and if you ever see Tim at Chick-Fil-A, give him a hand shake or a thumbs up if you notice what an awesome job he’s doing. Then take a notice of how the condiment stands look at other establishments. In at least this way, and I’m certain many others, Tim’s prayer has been answered. Are you inspired to be a little more grateful? Take a little more pride in your work, or work harder to please our Creator, as well as your clients or bosses?
I know I am.
